Corvo is the smallest island of the Azores archipelago. It is a small piece of land measuring only 17.13 km2 in area and 6.5 km long by 4 km wide, which is isolated in the Atlantic at 31º 05′ west longitude and 39º 40′ north latitude. Despite having been discovered around the island of Flores in 1452, its small size and isolated location did not appeal to the navigators that discovered it; something which delayed its settlement until 1548. Nowadays, visitors are captivated by the uniqueness of its size and the natural beauty of the two lagoons at the bottom of a vast crater that occupies most of the island, not to mention the charming village that is on the island.
