Legal support is exclusively provided by lawyers with the following main purposes:

a) Provide information about their rights as a victim of crime and/or discrimination and how to exercise them – regardless of whether the victim has a valid residence permit or visa;

b) Clarify the procedures and stages of criminal proceedings;

c) Prepare and/or follow up on certain acts of the criminal proceedings, such as filing a complaint and going to court;

d) Assist with the preparation of petitions and pleadings;

e) Assist with the preparation of discrimination complaints and their referral to the competent authorities.

Non-Portuguese nationals – immigrants, refugees, or those who are in Portugal temporarily for other reasons – who have been victims of any type of crime.
