What is it

Social Support is provided by social workers, social educators and other appropriately qualified social work professionals and aims to:

a) Diagnose the social needs of the crime victim and his or her family, specifically in terms of housing, education, employment and professional training;

b) Inform the victim about the various social resources that exist;

c) Work with the victim to reflect on and explore the most appropriate social resources;

d) Assist the victim in making in-person or virtual contact with other local, regional or national services and institutions to optimize the most appropriate resources for the support process;

e) Refer the victim to other local, regional or national services and institutions and make contact with the respective professionals; accompany the victim in person; and draw up the required victim support process reports.

Who is it intended for

Non-Portuguese nationals – immigrants, refugees, or those who are in Portugal temporarily for other reasons – who have been victims of any type of crime.

Requirements

Be a victim of a crime and/or violence.
