What is it

The Regional Directorate for the Communities, in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Education, runs Portuguese language courses for speakers of other languages. Successful completion of these courses allows immigrants to meet the requirements of schemes for the acquisition of Portuguese nationality, granting of permanent residence and long-term residency permits relating to knowledge of the Portuguese language.

Who is it intended for

Local, regional or national public, private or cooperative entities, specifically municipalities, companies or business associations, unions and associations, as well as public educational establishments, may apply to run these courses.

The courses run by these entities are aimed at foreign nationals over the age of 18 years, resident in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, who can prove that they do not hold Portuguese nationality, who hold a residency permit valid for a stay in Portugal, or proof that they have started the process to obtain, renew or extend it.

Applications

Training entities must send their applications by 31 March.
