The Regional Directorate for Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness (DREC) has the mission to support the definition and implementation of policies intended to stimulate private investment, with a view to strengthening the competitiveness of the Azorean business fabric and promoting innovation, quality and entrepreneurship as well as attracting external investment.

DREC manages incentive systems to private investment, by granting subsidies for projects aiming the creation of new businesses or the development of existing ones.

Besides the entrepreneurship promotion and attraction of external investment, it also has competence in terms of regulation of commercial and industrial activities and those related to geologic resources.

The management and promotion of the Azores Brand are also responsibility of DREC.
