What is it

Educational Welfare is a set of measures that include:
– Exemption from tuition and registration fees (except those after the deadline);
– School insurance coverage;
– Meals provided at subsidized prices;
– Supply of milk at school to primary students;
– Subsidized purchase of textbooks;
– Loans of textbooks;
– Subsidized school supplies;
– Subsidized accommodation for students moved from other areas;
– Subsidized purchase of prostheses and braces;
– Provision of school transportation for free and at subsidized prices.

Who can benefit

Foreign children in pre-school education and primary and secondary school students enrolled in public education and teaching establishments are eligible for Educational Welfare.

How to apply

By filling out the application forms available at the School Welfare Services at public educational establishments.

For the purposes of determining levels of subsidies, students are grouped into income brackets (I to V), taking into account:
– family income;
– the composition of the household;
– the existence of special expenses due to illness, disability or any other compelling reason.

Refugee students may benefit from School Social Action support, upon application.

Deadline: By 31 May

Required Documents

– Tax return from the previous year and corresponding income statement;
– Declaration proving a children and young people subsidy beneficiary status, showing the yearly value (Family Allowance);
– Declaration proving beneficiary status of other social benefits not included in the income statement, showing the yearly value (e.g. unemployment benefit);
– Residence certificate;
– Tax residence declaration (if any);
– Declaration proving beneficiary status of Social Integration Income (for S.I.I. beneficiaries);
– Statement proving institutionalization in a Foster Home (for institutionalized students);
– Declaration proving enrollment in the Qualification and Employment Center of your area of residence (for unemployed members of your household).
